Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. The most famous of her works is her performance in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain as well as singing lead in Apollonia 6, a girl group. Her name was among the female artists to benefit of Prince's involvement throughout the 1980s. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. In the late 70s she was a guest on CHiPS. The female lead of Prince's Purple Rain was her first appearance when it was released in the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name during this time. The actress replaced Vanity with the female trio Vanity 6 to appear in the film with Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter was only a small success for the trio, however she made a greater success as Prince's duet companion on Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero ended her relationship with Prince due to their falling out over her future career. Kotero appeared in a handful of minor films (reportedly refusing to participate on"The Purple Rain" sequel Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon), before landing the role of Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album was released in 1988. However, the R&B/dance tracks were not well received by those who bought music. The album soon vanished. The actress continued to perform (if a bit under the spotlight), with small TV parts, films of minor importance and an exercise DVD. Apollonia's album "Stay With Me" came out in 1997. Later, she returned to university and obtained a filmmaking degree. Then, she started her own production firm. Apollonia Kotero is a multi-faceted person. She was a model, singer and talent supervisor. Her role as an actor in the 1984 film Purple Rain made her a celebrity. In addition to Purple Rain, she's played in other TV shows films, including Black Magic Woman or The Divorce Ceremony. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She competed in many pageants.
